Kanthaembroidery is traditionally used to make quilts from layers of worn cotton saris in India. Artisans recycle the resultingkanthacloth by wrapping the fabric around wooden beads to create a colorful assortment of uniquely patterned jewelry. This fairly traded jewelry was handmade by women artisans in India using sustainable materials.
