Description
An Unusual Gold and Ox Horn Mounted Viola Bow; Possibly by Frank Henderson, with an ivory tip plate, whalebone lapping, andleather thumb grip. The frog, demonstrating wear to the thumb projection, fully lined and mounted in gold, with a matching single piece adjuster of unusual tooling. The head appears to be rather loosely inspired by Kittel, showing off the quality and figuration of this pernambuco selection.
At a balanced weight of 74 grams, this viola bow pulls a robust, almost raw tone that is rich in color with clearly ringing overtones; fantastic tracking and contact, decidedly easy to shape blossoms of sound, with an even, punchy quality to the start of articulations and effortlessly consistent spiccato.
